Steve Patton
Director of Security
Steve Patton retired from the Wichita Police Department at the rank of Lieutenant after 25 years of service. In that capacity, Steve has a diverse background of experiences in Patrol work and criminal investigations; Supervisory experience including patrol supervision, Investigations supervision; and administrative supervision as a watch commander and acting bureau commander. Steve also worked collateral duties as a hazardous device technician and as a clandestine lab technician. His final assignment was as the Range Master. Steve also worked as a Security Manager for a medical provider prior to his employment with Newman University.
Eddie Alcorn
Eddie began working part-time for Smart Security in 2018, he is a 2nd shift Security Officer at Newman University. He has been a full-time employee for the City of Wichita since 1991. In his spare time, Eddie enjoys hunting, fishing, stargazing, and bee keeping.
John Cochran
John is a 2nd shift on-call Newman University Security Officer. He is a retired U.S. Army Military Police Officer. In his free time, John enjoys spending time with his wife and his grandchildren.
Mike Egbert
Mike has been with Smart Security since 2017. Mike served several years as Infantry in the United States Army. In his spare time, Mike enjoys riding motorcycles, playing with his dogs, and spending time with his children.
Jim Goebel
Jim is a full-time teacher at Sunrise Christian Academy and has been a member of the Smart Security team since 2018. He currently works part-time 2nd and 3rd shift at Newman University. Jim was born and raised in western Maryland where in high school he was an active in athletics and drama. He attended college in Chicago, where he majored in education and met his wife, Lori. Together they have 6 children. Jim enjoys all sports but has recently taking up running as his next athletic adventure.
